Reply to 'PainRack': 'US should quickly place tariffs on Chinese goods to improve its own economy. '
Not exactly..... One can blame the way the subsidies are structured so that meat, sugar and other high calorie substances are made very cheap while fresh fruits and vegetables aren't heavily subsidised enough to become super cheap.
Having exhausted the local US market for profit, these agri/ food co.s now want to pressure poorer countries to buy into their monopoly fueled avarice with the promise of "faster fatter bigger cheaper" 'Food Inc - Official Trailer [HD]': (YouTube#t=27s) by using US govt funding to over produce corn, meat etc whereas by out pricing 3rd world agri-commodity prices, 3rd world traditional farmers would have no choice but to adopt soil damaging hyper productive farming methods with GM seed and patented fertilizers/ supplies- i.e. and as such, become totally dependent and beholden and US agri farm products. Please note that none of the 4 'immediately gratifying' adverbs "faster fatter bigger cheaper" necessary relate to the concept of 'better' nor 'sustainability', thus toll- both immediate as well as long term, as the result of such profligate capitalism/ legislation on human health, welfare and society is expected to be immense.
With regards to the OT ( 'US should quickly place tariffs on Chinese goods to improve its own economy'), I think the poster needs to step away from the kool aid. Points can be made without propaganda words....Now still don't understand trying talk about subsidy, tariff, manipulating china or health.
(Minor edits mine)
In short summary, I'm sure that the Chinese govt is aware of the sad state of US society- and how it has been wrecked by the avarice of large food/ farm conglomerate- resulting in fat and stupid citizen workers and immense social problems. Sorry my blunt language but it is all I have to get my point across.
Given such illicit motives by US farm, agri and power companies to manipulate US farm/ food subsidies for profit both local and abroad; and the obvious environmental unsustainability of modern day carbon fueled lifestyles/ intensive farming methods, don't you think that the US is merely taking the low road in pressuring China to revalue the Yuan without looking itself in the mirror first?
The acceptable reaction to the undervalued Yuan problem would be to raise tariffs on China goods (and in so doing reduce US waistlines). Never mind a currency war between states- let them all devalue their currencies, raise tariffs etc, just as long as the poor in each state are well cared for. The earth today has been exploited to the hilt and innovation and environmentalism is lagging behind. The Earth needs a rest and we need time to think- about the future of ourselves and the next generation.
I've thus answered your confusion about "subsidy, tariff, manipulating china or health"; your clarification is much expected and awaited.
Tks and Rgds
