Not for love of money, but of Humanity. "Greater is he who works for the good of all, then he who works for the good of himself only" ~ Matthew 25:40: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"- (NIV). I live in Singapore where the Emperor must not be disturbed.

Political allegiance should never be factor in the provision of legal aid to needy Singaporeans.

I read with deep concern an article 'Subhas Anandan to offer free legal aid to Hougang residents if Desmond Choo is elected' [TemasekTimes, 11May2012]: "Prominent criminal lawyer Subhas Anandan has joined in the fray in Hougang by promising to set up a legal bureau at Hougang Community Club to offer free legal aid to Hougang residents if PAP candidate Desmond Choo wins the by-election on 26 May!"

I can appreciate it if legal professionals used their knowledge and expertise towards achieving happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation and to especially help the poor and downtrodden, but to apply their expertise in such an overtly political partisan fashion, what does this move imply about the impartiality of the legal profession from the prejudices of politics and and the executive?

I believe all members of the law society and the Bar have to be professionally disinterested, and thus impartial, towards issues of a political slant.

I apologize if I have misunderstood the report and as a result obtained a wrong impression but my impression is that legal practitioners should always remain impartial and never have to resort to either political prostitution or political manipulation in its establishment of justice within the community- to do so will certainly sully the image of the legal profession as an impartial judicial body separate from the whims and fancies of ruling political parties.

Justice should not be based upon party political allegiances. Justice ought be politically disinterested and impartial. And nobody should be above the law.
