Yes, Edz is WRONG to curse Singapore with natural disasters. But about the losers (?poor health?) part, I cannot help but agree somewhat that in so far that the godfather of Singapore says:
"One Man's View of the World" he (Lee Kuan Yew) has said "I cannot solve the problem, and I have given up. I have given the job to another generation of leaders. Hopefully, they or their successors will eventually find a way out." Singapore Dissident: Singapore strongman Lee Kuan Yew admits defeat on falling birth rate
And given the high stress (e.g. mayhem on SMRT train), low birth rate, high chronic disease environment, Singaporean's are INDEED a people heading for extinction...
According to Roy Ngerng, Sinkies with diabetes have poor/ low survival stats:
Singaporeans, The Truth About Our Healthcare Financing, Retirement Funds and Money All Revealed! (Part 2) | The Heart Truths
Diabetes amongst Singaporeans is a world/ regional record breaker:
The figure describes which age groups in the population have the highest proportions of diabetes. The grey line is the distribution of diabetes prevalence by age for the world; the purple line is the distribution for the region; and the country distribution is plotted in the black line. Many middle- and low-income countries have more people under the age of 60 with diabetes compared to the world average. Meanwhile, for high-income countries, a growing population over the age of 60 makes up the largest proportion of diabetes prevalence.Singapore | International Diabetes Federation
And High Kidney Failure Rate In Singapore:
- Singapore has the fifth highest rate of kidney failure in the world, with 279 people per million of population facing this life-threatening situation in 2012. - See more at: High kidney failure rate in Singapore, Others news, Health News, AsiaOne YourHealth
And then we ask ourselves why our hospitals are overflowing with Singaporean patients and we need Filipino health care workers to help Singaporeans remain fit to do basic work. Question is, why is the (physical/ mental) health of Singaporeans so poor that we need so many foreigners to keep us well, can't we be responsible for our OWN health (stop smoking, exercise more, responsible food choices)???!!!

Singaporeans need to rething their moral purpose in life and their contributions to this world. Continuing to select/ highlight statistics denominated merely in USD or $GD (SGD) just doesn't cut in the internet age. What about carbon footprint, pollution control, poverty alleviation, personal integrity, harmonious mutual acceptance of religion, road courtesy and other virtues?
Have a healthy lifestyle everyone (more ways than one), even if U won't do it for yourself, at least, pls do it for Singapore.

"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals. Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity." - MP Lim Wee Kiak apologises for comments on pay [IMG URL] |
