'How do we wipe out the debt problem today?' (27Feb2009): 'Six Minutes with the Renegade Economist - Michael Hudson Special...': [YouTube link]: “...They're not acting democratically. A.. What the governments have done is to turn from a democracy into and oligarchy. And we’re seeing an oligarchy and in-fact a 'kleptocracy' emerge here; and the governments are not doing what the people are expecting them to do. They are not representing the interest of their constituents.”
Not for love of money, but of Humanity. "Greater is he who works for the good of all, then he who works for the good of himself only" ~ Matthew 25:40: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"- (NIV). did u write the above article or is it quoted? no worries just clarifying. it is one of the rare good and fair opinions.
except that i dun think obesity is a major factor for healthcare costs. to a minor role, that i agree.
i think commercialism and cost of new drugs and machines, litigations and abuse of healthcare with unnecessary investigations, are the reason that push up the costs by much much more.

US should quickly place tariffs on Chinese goods to improve its own economy.
Their delays in doing so only tell me what a bunch of wafflers, profligate capitalist they are.
To instruct China to revalue the Yuan is going overboard and beyond the pale.
You CANNOT order China what to do, but you can impose fair tariffs on Chinese goods (to the extent on what is fair to your citizens) by imposing tariffs at your OWN ports which are under your own control.
You may preempt China about your intentions however you may NOT order another sovereign state (China) to do your bidding (revalue Yuan).

Re: Vote for any PAP MP= vote (by default) for Mr Lim Swee Say? Another post that makes no sense due to very bad editing on the Thread Starter's part. Why do you think that countries are eager to quickly absolve a hung Parliament? It means its a dreadlock - nothing can be done, debated, or implemented. How can the politicians possibly serve the people in such a situation? |

Vote for any PAP MP= vote (by default) for Mr Lim Swee Say?
PAP MPs by default vote according to the whip. "The free vote is given to them when they make a request, and the Whip will consider. In the past it was simply: 'No you can't even request'", "On 1 April 2007, he (Mr Lim Swee Say) was appointed the Government Whip". "PAP MP are bound by PARTY WHIP, ie they vote accordingly party line and not the constituencies interest and personal conviction."

For a country that befits itself as savior and defender of human rights are caught in a fix. Despite knowing that this act is wrong and would cost lives not only to Americans but millions over the world, they cannot do anything because it infringes on their Constitution on free speech. Reading US news and comments online seems to reveal that there are many within the States who actually support the church for doing what their doing. |

More likely a case of advance notice given by a shameless greedy monkey trying to justify continuation of his leeching of the public coffer than for the aged to work as long as they could if ever they could find a job and able to compete with the younger foreign trash. |

Quote:
Just my thots... Maybe your thread title was wrong in the first place because there was no "Betrayal of the original intent of the GRC System of elections". The original intent may have been "To allow the weak ones to hitch a ride on the strong ones", so that more of their own candidates can be elected and the reasons given for the need to have GRCs was merely an excuse...Let me show this possibility by some simple claculations... |

Although dis Malay S Sgt seems quite a silly clown: "I did not know what to do", I still think that he should be rewarded for his honesty at not accepting the $50 and bringing his bad subordinate (and the other 4 who accepted $50) to justice, unless there's more to his "unauthorized raid"- pls read on..., (See next post for trial outcome).

Suspect betrayal of the original purpose of the GRC system of elections.
What the numbers show ([link]/ see below) in the line "(projected) 2010/11(GE): 14/84 = 16.667% | 16.667 / 25.8 = 64.599% | 09 / 84 = 10.714%" is that whilst the GRC system was dismal 64.6% effective (a decreasing trend since 1991 (83.0%)) at ensuring minority representation in parliament, it was (100.00 - 10.7)% = 89.3% effective (increasing trend since inception from 51.9%) at minimizing independents and opposition-candidates from contesting in SMCs.
